If it’s the smell of salt in the air and fresh fish on your plate you want, then Solva is the place to be. All of our Solva holiday cottages are a stone’s throw away from some of the most stunning seafood vendors in the West, and a stroll from the bobbing boats and stunning scenery of this historic harbour. What to do?
Solva is a sleepy village with a lot to offer. You’ll soon settle into the slower pace of life here, and will find it the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. The harbour is the heart of Solva, and no visit is complete without a couple of hours crabbing from the slipway. A morning swim here is divine on a still day. Even better still, follow it up with a coffee from the cafe.
The Main Street in Solva is lined with independent shops, galleries, pubs, and restaurants that are a joy to explore. From homemade Welshcakes in all sorts of flavours (Leek and Cheese is our favourite!) to famous crab sandwiches, you’re sure to go home well fed! The shops and galleries sell beautiful local goodies, and further up the valley, you’ll find the oldest working woollen mill in Pembrokeshire.
For the perfect picnic, pop to the shop at the top of the village for homemade salads, pastries, dressed crab, and more. Then walk over the Gribbin to Gwadn beach, only reachable by foot or sea! Bring your swimming costume and settle in for the perfect relaxing afternoon.
In the evening, choose from the village’s many pubs and restaurants for fresh seafood, amazing burgers and of course, fish and chips! If you like a night out you’ll find a live music event most weekends.
